Apprentice scheme deadline extended after poor response

The deadline for applications for the new Yorkshire Dales Hill Farm Apprentice Scheme has been put back to January 31, after fewer inquiries than anticipated.

Askham Bryan College, which will accredit the qualifications, has also said it will consider GCSEs below Grade C as starting qualifications for applicants with suitable experience.

Trainees can live anywhere but would have to work in the Dales – paid at the minimum wage for 39 hours a week and receiving all training within those paid hours. The scheme is open to anyone over 18 on February 1.
