Balance is crucial for Morgan if Robins are to prosper in France

JUSTIN MORGAN admits he has to get his selection spot-on if his Hull KR career is not to end this evening.

The Rovers chief, who departs at the end of the season, faces a major decision regarding his squad’s make-up ahead of the elimination play-off against Catalan Dragons in Perpignan.

Powerful winger Liam Colbon, whose robust presence would be a significant bonus against the hefty French opponents, is fit again after a hamstring injury.

However, his replacement Craig Hall, a pacier wideman who has not featured regularly since his move from Hull FC, and Sam Latus have operated well on the flanks in recent weeks both playing their part in the crucial win over Castleford which secured the club’s place in the play-offs last Saturday.

Latus scored twice with Hall proving a constant threat while both crossed when Rovers won in Perpignan only a fortnight ago and Colbon, who operates like an extra forward, has not played in Super League since mid-July.

Morgan, who is expected to recall the ex-Wigan player, admitted: “It’s a tough one really.

“I’m considering things in ensuring we pick a big side. You have to pick the best team available to play against the Catalans and you need size across the park.

“It’s getting that balance between people who are playing well and people who may be able to add a little bit to the side.

“Both teams start from zero and I’ve said all the time I’ve been here that you need to pick horses for courses.

“You need to pick a team that is going to implement the game plan well and is able to combat some of the issues that the opposition might throw at you.

“At the same time you don’t want to be chopping and changing things.”
