The Beltex champions on show

North Yorkshire husband and wife Sue and Jeff Wilkinson of Langlands Farm, Barningham, Richmond, secured the supreme championship at the fifth annual National Progeny Show for pedigree and commercial Beltex sheep, organised by the Northern Beltex Club at Skipton Auction Mart.

The winner was also the best shearling ram and overall male champion. Mrs Wilkinson was also responsible for the reserve female champion, with her class-winning shearling gimmer.

The reserve supreme championship fell to the champion ewe lamb, one of a first-prize pair from Stuart Currie of Beautry House, Rathmell, Settle.

Prizes for young handlers went to six-year-old Giggleswick School pupil Matthew Garth, of Keasden, Clapham, and Henry Jewitt, 15, of Romaldkirk, Barnard Castle.
