Bradford suitors now include football pair

With Bradford City having placed their offer for Bradford Bulls earlier last week, the owners of semi-professional Bradford Park Avenue have also entered the bidding.

The RFL received four offers in total ahead of last Friday’s deadline with Super League Europe and Omar Khan, with Gerry Sutcliffe MP on board, the other contenders.

However, Bradford PA’s submission is conditional so it is likely to be dismissed when the RFL Board of Directors considers them this week.

The other three are unconditional and business plans from each will be forwarded to the governing body imminently.

The Super League clubs are then expected to be briefed on the latest developments at their regular meeting on Wednesday.

Bradford coach Mick Potter, meanwhile, is ready to see the job through after watching them keep alive their Super League play-off hopes with a 32-26 victory over top-eight rivals Hull KR on Friday night.

Potter, who has been working unpaid for the last month, had threatened to quit unless he received assurances over his future but pledged to see the season out after his side came up with a fifth successive home win to draw level with eighth-placed Rovers.

“It’s groundhog day,” he said. “There was supposed to be a resolution. The cut-off point was today. They are now going to assess the bids. A few people have put their cards on the table and I don’t think it will be too much longer before we get a decision.

“I don’t want to (walk away) but I’m under pressure to make a decision. I want to see it through regardless of my personal situation. I’m making that sacrifice to see it out.”

Loose forward Jamie Langley scored two tries and winger Jason Crookes marked his comeback from a four-month lay-off with a dislocated shoulder with a crucial second-half score.
