Briggs ruled out as Rovers host Hunslet

championship: Featherstone Rovers head to Hunslet Hawks tomorrow knowing they will be without on-loan Bradford Bulls stand-off Kyle Briggs for up to three months due to shoulder surgery.

Hunslet, meanwhile, face the champions without ex-Rovers second-row Neil Lowe who has suffered an injury to the same knee that underwent an operation in the off-season.

Hawks coach Barry Eaton said: “Neil’s knee is locking up a little bit and it may be that he needs another scan to check the cartilage. It’s been a tough couple of weeks with Leigh away and now Featherstone at home.

“They are a formidable team. They’ve maybe not been clicking as they’d want but I’m expecting them to be on top of their game on Sunday. It’s a huge challenge.”

David Clayton is also absent after breaking a bone in his foot, but Steve Lewis and Anthony Henderson should be fit.
