Bulls’ Potter remains in dark over his future at Odsal

Bradford head coach Mick Potter has reiterated his desire to stay on at the Bulls and will continue working without pay while he awaits a decision on his future.

The Super League club’s new owner Omar Khan has put on hold any decisions on the future make-up of the administration and the playing and coach staff of the Bulls until his takeover is officially ratified by the Rugby Football League.

That is expected to be a formality but is unlikely to happen before tomorrow, when the RFL board of directors are due to hold a conference call.

By then Potter and his team will be on their way to France for the last match of the regular season against his old club Catalan Dragons, a game the Bulls must win to keep alive any hope of securing a place in the top-eight play-offs.

“I’ve spoken to the club just about the team and the bigger picture but I haven’t spoken to them about what I’m doing personally,” said Potter, who was among 16 full-time members of staff made redundant by the administrator in early July.

“I think that’s going to happen this week. I think there’s a meeting being arranged.

“It’s possibly looking okay but I don’t know what they want me to do so I’ll just keep looking.”

Potter has put out feelers for jobs in his native Australia but says he has had no contact from either New Zealand Warriors or Sydney Roosters, who have sacked former Bulls coach Brian Smith, and insists his first choice would be to stay at Odsal under the new regime.

Hull KR have completed the signing of Penrith Panthers half-back Travis Burns, 28, who will be a straight replacement for Wigan-bound Blake Green.

Wayne Reittie looks set to return to Karl Harrison’s Halifax line-up, while Ross Divorty is also available for the start of the Co-operative Championship play-offs tonight against Keighley Cougars (7.30pm).

Cougars have Semi Tadulala returning from a calf injury, while Andy Shickell and Sam Obst lead a group of players returning to the fold after being rested last week.
