Bulls reject Rhinos bid for Lulia

Bradford Bulls have rejected a bid from Super League rivals Leeds Rhinos for three-quarter Keith Lulia.

The Rhinos are looking for a new centre for 2013 following the switch of Zak Hardaker to full-back and turned to the 25-year-old Cook Island international after failing in a bid to sign Salford’s Joel Moon.

However, the Bulls say they rejected the offer “out of hand” and insist the player is happy to stay at Odsal.

The 6ft 4in, 15st 8lb Lulia joined Bradford on a two-year deal from Newcastle Knights 12 months ago and scored 11 tries in 27 appearances this season.

The Bulls say they fielded interest in Lulia from several clubs while they were in administration earlier this year and that Leeds followed up their interest with a firm offer.

Bradford football manager Stuart Duffy said: “Leeds made an approach through the correct channels for Keith’s services but we rejected their offer out of hand.

“Keith is happy at the club and has been informed of the Rhinos’ interest.

“We have absolutely no intention whatsoever of letting our best players leave and were happy to decline the Rhinos’ offer.”
