Bulls wary of Noble's influence

BRADFORD BULLS captain Andy Lynch has warned his team-mates to be wary of former Odsal chief Brian Noble when they head north of the border to face Crusaders RL at Magic Weekend on Saturday.

The Bulls kick off Magic Weekend 2010 with a match against Noble's team at Murrayfield (1.00).

Noble spent five years as Bulls coach, winning three Grand Finals in 2001, 2003 and 2005, the Challenge Cup in 2003 and leading them to three World Club Championships in 2002, 2004 and 2006.

It is four years since he departed for Wigan, but Lynch knows any game against Bradford will be special for Noble.

Lynch said: "From a Bradford point of view, it's just another game when we come up against Nobby these days, but knowing him he'll get Crusaders really fired up for this one. We'll have to be ready for everything they throw at us.

"Crusaders have got a really useful squad compared to last year, and they've probably exceeded a lot of people's expectations. Brian Noble, Iestyn Harris and Jon Sharp have coached them very well, and they've already produced a few surprises this season."

The Magic Weekend sees a full round of Super League fixtures played over two days at Murrayfield, with over 40,000 fans expected to make the trek north.

"It's a great weekend for the fans," said Lynch. "Edinburgh is a very special city and the Magic Weekend really helps to spread Rugby League across the country.

"There will be some fans there that have never seen a game of rugby league before, so it's exciting to be part of that kind of event on such a big stage.

"Murrayfield is a stadium with lots of history. Whenever you play there it's always going to be a big game, no matter which team you're up against.

"All the lads have been looking forward to it for quite some time, and I think it particularly appeals to the Australian boys.

"They've read and heard about this event for so long, and now they actually get the chance to be part of it all while also having the opportunity to play at Murrayfield. It's a very special weekend."

Bradford are currently fifth in Super League after an encouraging start to the season.

"I think we're getting there with our own form," said Lynch. "We had quite a slow start but we are going about our business quite well and now we just want to improve on the little things. We're happy with where we are and we're going in the right direction."
