ASSISTANT-COACH Danny Orr’s playing comeback is only temporary, Castleford Tigers team boss Daryl Powell says.

Orr, 35, will play for the first time since the end of the 2012 season when Tigers host Halifax in Craig Huby’s testimonial game on Boxing Day. But coach Powell insisted his right-hand man plans to go back into retirement before the competitive campaign begins in February.

“I don’t think he will be coming back,” said Powell.

“He looks in great shape and I am sure he could do if needed, but we’re hoping the players we’ve got in our squad this year are going to be good enough to get the job done.”

Five new or returning faces will feature on Boxing Day.

Marc Sneyd – on a season-long loan from Salford Red Devils – will start at stand-off, with ex-London Broncos star Luke Dorn, back at Tigers for a second spell, named at scrum-half. Prop Andy Lynch will begin his second stint as a Tigers player in the front-row and recruits Frankie Mariano (from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats) and Liam Finn (Featherstone Rovers) are among the substitutes. Lee Gilmour has recovered from a long-term shoulder problem and will play his first game since May.

Castleford’s boxing day squad: Tansey, Owen, Channing, Dixon, Clare, Sneyd, Dorn, Lynch, Clark, Huby, Gilmour, Holmes, Wheeldon. Substitutes: Fleming, Martin, Howden, Reynolds, Mariano, Orr, Finn.
