Challenge Cup round-up: Fryston and West Hull come close to upsets

Yorkshire Cup champions Fryston Warriors gave Keighley Cougars a Challenge Cup scare before the League One side finally ran out 50-32 winners against amateur opponents.

The Castleford community club held their league opponents 16-16 at half-time, before the Cougars clinched victory.

Fryston’s tries came from Wayne McHugh (2), Andy Matthews, Steve Scott, Sean Gee and Jack Lee, Andy Speake booting three goals and Aaron Dobek adding a drop goal.

Two tries from Sean Kelly saw Keighley on their way to victory, with other tries from James Feather, Josh Tonks, Danny Lawton, Adam Ryder, Brendon Rawlins, Andy Gabriel and Ritchie Hawkyard. Matty Beharrell added seven goals.

Fellow amateurs West Hull also came close to causing a Cup upset, letting a 12-10 interval lead slip as Whitehaven won 18-16.

on Sunday, York City Knights thrashed Egremont Rangers 48-8, Hunslet beat Coventry Bears 34-0, while Doncaster outed Myton Warriors 34-6.
