The French club are one of the first to get underway after four months of inactivity when they face St Helens on August 2.

Catalans say they will be adhering to both French and UK government guidelines as well as the protocols created by the RFL to ensure the ‘health and wellbeing of our players, staff and the wider community.’

Former Bradford Bulls and England chief McNamara admitted: “We are looking forward to getting the whole team back together on 6th July.

“I’ve seen all the players individually and they look very fit and healthy. Their discipline during this tough period will give them the best opportunity to be ready for the St Helens game.

“The staff have planned meticulously for the return and the players have certainly played their part in staying ready for the next phase of our program.”

The plans give Catalans almost four weeks preparation which is more than some of their rivals.

For example, Leeds Rhinos, who face Huddersfield Giants on the same day, are planning to return on July 13.

Catalans will have regular testing of players and staff, daily screening and monitoring including temperature checks plus restricted access to the training site exclusively for players and staff.

Yorkshireman McNamara added: “We appreciate the support received from all our partners and supporters to help us get to this point and whilst restrictions around our training environment won’t allow them to attend training as they normally do we hope to see them all soon.

“Finally, whilst delighted to return, we spare a thought for all those and their families who have suffered loss due to the Covid 19 illness.”
