Cook is excited by the prospect of joining up with silverware-chasing Castleford

CASTLEFord Tigers have continued their recruitment for 2015 with the signing of London Broncos’ captain Matt Cook.

The second-row returns to Yorkshire having started his career at Bradford Bulls, where he won the 2006 World Club Challenge as a teenager. He then played for Hull KR.

Cook, 27, has been in the capital for the last three years, becoming an increasingly influential player.

However, with London’s relegation now rubber-stamped, his two-year contract with Castleford – where he had a short spell on loan from Bradford in 2008 – was yesterday confirmed.

“I’m excited by how the Tigers are playing this season,” he said.

“I already know a few of the boys and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the place, the players and the coaches.

“I’m looking forward to having room for my own game to improve, and I feel that I can only get better under Daryl Powell.

“To be part of a club that is challenging for silverware and to be part of what they have built will really be something special.”

He will join current London team-mate Denny Solomona and Melbourne Storm duo Junior Moors and Ben Roberts at Wheldon Road for next season.

Meanwhile, Castleford have also signed Garreth Carvell for the remainder of this season following the veteran prop’s release by Hull FC.

The 33-year-old – who has also represented Leeds, Warrington and Bradford – joined them on loan last month after failing to impress in his second spell at the KC Stadium.
