Coventry 10 Keighley 42: Lindsay injury takes gloss of Cougars win

Keighley club captain James Feather marked his 250th game for the club with a late try as the Cougars maintained their place at the League One summit.

The long-serving hooker touched down in the 71st minute to cap a comprehensive win for Paul March’s side, who worryingly saw loose forward Ash Lindsay taken to hospital after the game with an ankle injury.

Feather, who joined Hunslet in the off-season and then reneged in favour of staying at Cougar Park, has proved an outstanding servant to his hometown club.

Strength and conditioning coach Adam Mitchell said: “What happened with ‘Buster’ in the off-season is history now. He wanted to stay and has proved his worth every time he’s played.

“To play 250 games is a phenomenal achievement and he’s a great servant to the club.”

Prolific winger Paul White put Keighley ahead and, after the visitors had Josh Lynam sinbinned for a professional foul, Jack Morrison replied for Coventry.

Rikki Sheriffe and Lynam scored for Keighley before White went over again and on-loan Bradford scrum-half Adam Brook touched down. Lynam completed his brace before Jason Bass hit back for the Bears, only for Samir Tahraoui and Feather to score and complete a handsome win for Cougars.

The only concern was the injury to Lindsay, with Mitchell adding: “It’s not looking good for Ash.

“He’s going to hospital but the doctor reckons he’s broken something in his ankle.”
