Crusaders show their intent with signing of prop Moore

The 29-year-old follows his old Wildcats team-mate Paul Johnson to Wrexham following his release by the Yorkshire club.

Moore is new Crusaders coach Iestyn Harris's third signing of the winter after the previous captures of Johnson and former Bradford back Stuart Reardon.

Harris said: "Richard fits the bill for the type of player we are looking to recruit here at the Crusaders.

"He's a real tough competitor, a big strong runner and he never takes a backward step.

"Richard has lots of Super League experience under his belt and he adds real strength and aggression to our pack.

"He has been one of Wakefield's outstanding performers over the past few years and we're delighted that he has chosen to take up a new challenge here in Wrexham."

News of Moore's signing comes three days after a new company backed by Wrexham Village, owners of the club's Racecourse Ground home, completed a deal to take Crusaders out of administration.

Moore won Super League and Challenge Cup honours with Bradford and also had spells with London Broncos and Leigh before joining the Wildcats.

Moore has resumed his career after being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2009. He was released by Wakefield due to salary cap restrictions.

HULL have agreed to release former Australia international Shaun Berrigan from the final year of his contract.

The 32-year-old hooker was three years into a four-year stay with the club, but has now been given permission to return to the NRL where he is expected to sign for either the Gold Coast Titans or the New Zealand Warriors.

Berrigan made 74 appearances for the KC Stadium outfit after joining from Brisbane ahead of the 2008 season, and won the club's player of the year award in his debut campaign which included an appearance in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley.

He has struggled for form since then, though, and has often been forced to play out of position to cover injuries.

His departure means that Hull have a vacant place on their overseas quota for the 2011 season.

"I have loved my time at Hull FC and leave with many happy memories and friendships," Berrigan said. "After a tough year personally in terms of injuries and the passing of my father earlier this year, I want to move closer to my mum and family and I'm looking forward to spending more time with them."
