Danny Brough goes to Bradford Bulls with Wakefield Trinity’s blessing

Although nothing official has yet been confirmed by either club or the player himself, Bradford chairman Mark Sawyer announced in an interview last week that Brough had signed a two-year deal with the Championship club starting in 2021.

The prolific scrum-half, who will be 38 in January, is out of contract at Belle Vue at the end of the season.

Former Scotland captain Brough – who won Man of Steel in 2013 – returned to Wakefield from Huddersfield Giants at the start of last year.

Carter said: “I’m led to believe he has signed for Bradford.

“We were in the position where we couldn’t offer him anything right now (for 2021) so I said to Danny’s representatives it’s up to him to take which gamble he wants to take.

“He can either wait for us – but there might not be anything – or take that offer that is on the table that at least secures his future.

“We wish Danny all the best at Bradford.”

Leeds are mourning the death of Barry Simms, who was hooker when the club won their first-ever Championship in 1961 but had to retire aged 23 due to a serious knee injury.
