DARYL Powell wants his squad to create their own intensity when they return to training on July 20, to make up for the lack of supporters that will be present on Super League's resumption.

The top-flight’s return will initially take place behind closed doors at a selection of neutral venues and will restart on August 2 with a triple header at a stadium yet to be decided, with the Tigers set to return a week later on August 8 or 9.

Powell admits he will miss the atmosphere created by the Castleford supporters at home and away games but wants his squad to maintain the level of performances they were delivering before the suspension.

“We train without any fans, so we need to make sure there is an intensity about us as a team and create our own atmosphere,” said Powell

“I think that is important.

“We get a good following both home and away. You need to create your own atmosphere and it is all about what happens on the field.

“We need to make sure when we get back that we are playing to a high level, that is the most important thing.

"We have got to get our boys ready to go and they have to deal with the lack of atmosphere and create our own.”

The Tigers won five of their seven Super League outings before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Castleford have played more games than the majority of sides in the division and are only kept off the top of the table on points difference.

Having points on the board ahead of the resumption will help the Tigers hit the ground running as Powell aims for his side to continue their form from the first part of the campaign.

“It is just about having an awareness of what we were doing well and doing the hard work that is needed to replicate that,” he added.

“We know what was working for us and we are in a good position but you can’t expect that what you have done before is going to continue unless you work hard.

“We know what we were doing well and we will try our best to carry on where we left off.

“Practice will be really effective to get us back where we need to be and I think we will be able to do that.”
