Daughter's emotional phone call persuades Brown to quit

HUDDERSFIELD coach Nathan Brown revealed his five-year-old daughter's emotional plea persuaded him to quit and return home to Australia.

He leaves at the end of the season after the Giants agreed to release him from the final year of his contract.

"When I came over I planned on staying for three years but there are some things that have happened in the last three or four weeks which made me realise how far I've taken the kids away," he said, his family currently stranded in Sydney due to the volcanic ash crisis.

"The kids are home, going to the beach, and to the park and going on boats and they don't get to do that here.

"One of my daughters said to me on Skype 'daddy can you please move back to Australia because I want to live here.'

"That summed up for me 100 per cent what I needed to do."
