Dewsbury 24 London 12: Fieldhouse sees red as Rams beat Broncos

Dewsbury Rams produced a fantastic all-round display as they defeated London Broncos to complete a Championship double over the full-timers.

Dewsbury played an hour of the game with 12 men following the controversial sending off of full-back Ryan Fieldhouse but defended superbly to restrict London to two breakaway tries.

Dewsbury took a sixth-minute lead when Brett Seymour’s neat short pass sent Karl Pryce striding over for the 100th try of his career. Seymour converted.

Pryce then plucked a Broncos pass out of the air for a Seymour-converted try.

London hit back as Wes Naiqama intercepted a pass and raced 90 metres to the try line and he tagged on the conversion.

Following Fieldhouse’s red card, tempers became frayed with Broncos’ Elliot Kear and Dewsbury’s Stephen Nash both sin-binned for a brawl.

But 11-man Rams grabbed a third try when Nathan Conroy nipped over from acting half-back and Seymour converted as Dewsbury led 18-6 at half-time.

Seymour kicked two second-half penalties only for London to hit back as Oscar Thomas finished off a sweeping move with a try between the posts, despite strong claims of two forward passes in the build. Naiqama tagged on the goal.

Seymour struck a post with a penalty attempt but eased Rams nerves when he converted after London were again penalised and Dewsbury held on for a superb win.
