Dewsbury Rams 22 Barrow Raiders 12: Pryce shines as Rams deny Raiders’ revival

DEWSBURY Rams moved back into the Championship top six with a hard-earned victory over Barrow Raiders at Tetley’s Stadium.

Having fallen to a 36-22 defeat in the reverse fixture at Craven Park, the Rams had to withstand another comeback from their visitors as they held on to claim the points.

The home side went ahead after just seven minutes as Jonathan Schofield broke and exchanged passes with Dale Morton before crossing by the posts.

The lead was doubled to 12-0 when Keiran Hyde put up a high kick which Barrow full-back Liam Campbell spilled on his line, allowing Hyde himself to pick up and ground.

Raiders had an Aaron Low try disallowed before the break and saw Sean Casey sin-binned, but they kept the deficit to the dozen into the second half.

It was the visitors who struck first after the interval as Dean McGilvray dived in down the right, but there was a quick response as Karl Pryce broke down the left and finished off the move four tackles later as he collected a Bobbie Goulding kick and scored his second.

Raiders made for an exciting finish as Max Wiper and Liam Finch laid the groundwork for Nathan Mossop to cross, but the Rams defence prevented any further inroads.
