Dobson plea to Morgan as Hull KR prepare for Wakefield

FIT-AGAIN Michael Dobson has urged Hull KR coach Justin Morgan to ignore caution and play him in all of their holiday programme as the club aim to rescue their Super League season.

The talismanic Australian scrum-half returned in the Good Friday derby after missing two months with an ankle injury, Rovers winning just twice in his absence.

He could not prevent a further defeat against Hull FC but was pivotal as Rovers won 37-24 against Harlequins on Easter Monday and is desperate to continue his comeback at Wakefield this weekend.

“My body is pretty wrecked to be honest,” said Dobson, who scored a try, five goals and a drop-goal to see off the resilient London side.

“I haven’t done a lot of physical training so it’s been a pretty tough weekend for myself but I’m just going to put my feet up for a few days and get the body right for Sunday.

“I always want to play. Morgs wasn’t quite sure about it but I wanted to get out there.

“Come the last 20 minutes I was struggling but I was hoping for a less physical game than we got.

“Luckily we got away with it and got the win.

“Attacking-wise I felt good. The last 20 minutes my defence let me down a little but I think that was just because I was a bit fatigued. That will come with a bit more game time.”

Harlequins twice fought back to level and Dobson admitted: “I think it shows how much determination we’ve got in our team to keep repelling them.”

The East Yorkshire club are expected to make an announcement towards the end of the week about the future of Willie Mason, the Australian prop who was de-registered to allow Dobson’s return.

However, reports in Sydney say Cronulla are keen on their other Kangaroo front-row Joel Clinton, who is apparently homesick, and that could yet lead to Mason staying and playing on his Australian passport although he remains expected to join Toulon RU.

Leeds’s Brent Webb could miss Friday’s trip to Castleford as he faces the RFL disciplinary tonight along with Crusaders’ Richard Moore for punching during their fight in the Easter Monday game.

Hull FC coach Richard Agar had his operational tribunal yesterday to answer charges after his comments about referee James Child but will not hear his fate until next Tuesday.
