Draw 'like drinking non-alcoholic beer'

Coach Justin Morgan was in no mood to pop the champagne corks despite his side ending their Huddersfield hoodoo on Friday.

The Giants had beaten the Robins on all three occasions the sides had met this season prior to the meeting three days ago, but Rovers looked certain to arrest that run when two penalties from Michael Dobson gave them a 16-14 lead with just seconds remaining.

And although Brett Hodgson landed a stunning last-gasp penalty of his own to earn Huddersfield a point, Morgan's men returned to Humberside having ended their five-game losing run on the road as well as halting Huddersfield's dominance of them.

The Australian did not feel like celebrating, though, saying: ""It's a bit of an anti-climax and feels a bit like going out and drinking non-alcoholic beer. But in terms of performance it was fairly consistent for us.

"We've still fallen off the cliff at certain stages in the game but we were okay."

Opposite number Nathan Brown was quick to salute his outgoing captain, who was the calmest man on the field as he landed the late goal.

"Brett Hodgson is a quality player and his kicking under pressure at the end was terrific," said Brown. "It was a frantic last 60 seconds but at least we found a way to get a point."
