Featherstone 76 Thatto 6: Rovers romp to 13-try demolition

THREE-times Challenge Cup winners Featherstone Rovers coasted through to the fourth round of the competition with a 13-try win.

Captain Liam Finn piled up 28 points with a try and 12 goals as Rovers crushed St Helens amateurs Thatto, who found themselves 18-0 down after just nine minutes.

The Championship side led 42-6 at half-time and finished the game with a flourish by scoring six tries in the final 20 minutes of the contest.

Andy Kain grabbed a first-half hat trick and Featherstone’s other try scorers were Matt James (2), Tom Hodson (2), Greg Worthington (2), Ben Hellewell and debutants Jack Ormondroyd and Dave Scott.

Corey Lee scored Thatto’s solitary try that Shaun Quinn goaled.
