Featherstone bounce back from Eagles loss

FEATHERSTONE bounced back from a 35-10 hammering at Sheffield with an eight-try win.

Winger Jamie Foster grabbed a try and kicked six goals and try-scoring half-backs Kyle Briggs and Anthony Thackeray were also key contributors to Featherstone’s sixth victory in 14 months over Workington.

Rovers quickly went ahead when John Davies swapped passes with Michael Channing to send in Leeds Rhinos’ dual-registered winger Ash Handley.

Workington replied with the first of Declan Hulme’s two tries but Featherstone regained control when Jamie Cording went over from Thackeray’s pass and Briggs scored a solo try.

Home prop Colton Roche was sin-binned in the 23rd minute for a high tackle but 12-man Rovers shot further ahead when Thackeray twisted his way over.

Davies put in Channing for Featherstone’s fifth try and they added three more touchdowns early in the second-half.

Good work by Ian Hardman and Misi Taulapapa saw Foster go over and Hardman also darted in before Tim Spears finished a move involving Thackeray and Misi Taulapapa to make it 44-4.
