Featherstone Rovers 60 Dewsbury Rams 18: Ten-try Featherstone leave Rams stunned

FEATHERSTONE completed a hat-trick of wins over Dewsbury this season with a 10-try display.

Half-backs Liam Finn and Andy Kain were in top form as the defending champions stormed to their fourth successive league victory.

Finn bagged two tries and landed all 10 conversions to stretch his run to 31 consecutive successful kicks over their last four matches.

Former Castleford and Widnes player Kain scored his 100th career try with the second of his four touchdowns.

The Rams suffered their fourth successive defeat after conceding two tries in the first six minutes.

Kain weaved his way over from 50 yards out before Sam Smeaton went in from Kain’s pass.

Dewsbury struggled to get out of their own half in the early stages but they scored in their first attack when Scott Spaven plunged over from acting half.

Featherstone quickly replied with two tries in four minutes. Finn’s long pass put in Greg Worthington before Finn forced his way through from close range to put them 24-6 up at the break.

They went further ahead early in the second period with three tries in six minutes from Smeaton and Kain completed his hat-trick.

Dewsbury replied when a clever move involving Rob Spicer, Spaven, Ed Barber and Pat Walker sent in James Craven but Rovers cut loose again with another three-try burst.

Finn got his second, Tommy Saxton crossed and Kain grabbed his fourth with an 85-yard run.
