Featherstone will aim to bounce back

CHAMPIONSHIP: Featherstone Rovers coach Daryl Powell could be boosted by the return of Matty Dale and Kyle Briggs tomorrow as he looks to bounce back from a rare defeat.

Rovers were toppled 26-18 by Sheffield Eagles last week and will be determined to hit back against Workington at Post Office Road.

Workington travel without ex-Hull FC and Great Britain prop Jamie Thackeray (suspended), Andy Morris and former Leeds Rhinos winger Mark Calderwood, while Jarrad Stack has a 50/50 chance of playing.

Workington coach Gary Charlton said: “It doesn’t get any tougher than this, especially after Featherstone’s loss against Sheffield – they’ll be keen to put a few things right.

“We’ve got to defend well, because everyone knows how good Rovers are in attack, and how well drilled they are.

“Daryl’s got the type of players that will want to prove they can play and prove how good they are. Our challenge is to come up with something to stop them.

“Last week against Batley our effort and enthusiasm was back to what it was; we just let ourselves down with two or three errors.”
