Kevin Sinfield’s goal kicking is impossible to replace. Rhinos tried three marksman – including Ablett after the final hooter – but they managed just one conversion between them from six attempts.

Brett Ferres is a good signing for Leeds: Ferres will bring a new dimension to an already strong pack. He was involved in several tries and looked sharp in his first Leeds appearance at Headingley.

Ashton Golding is a talent: The teenage full-back replaced Zak Hardaker mid-way through the second half and again caught the eye with his ability under the high ball, exciting running and outstanding pass for the final try.

Rhinos need to sharpen up before their first league game. They improved with and without the ball after half-time, but Bradford matched the champions in the first 40.

Rhinos’ £1m new pitch was worth every penny. Ryan Golding and his ground staff have done a fantastic job, but a couple of years ago all the recent rain would have left the old surface unplayable.
