Gateshead 2 York City Knights 44: York ease their way through at halft-throttle

YORK Knights did not have to be at their best to run in eight tries against Gateshead Thunder and ease into the fourth round.

Player-coach Chris Thorman put the Knights on the front foot. Two perfectly weighted kicks brought tries and clever work near the line put substitute Joe McLocklan over with his first touch.

Wayne Reittie benefited from Thorman's angled chip although Gateshead replied through Robin Peers and Jimmy Atkinson.

It was to be the home side's only score of the second half and Lee Waterman scooted down the left touchline with York a man light. Casey Bromilow then put Danny Hill over and Richard Blakeway completed the scoring two minutes from time following good work from Danny Ratcliffe.
