Gateshead Thunder 4 Batley Bulldogs 100: Thunder savaged by rampant Bulldogs

Batley Bulldogs finished unbeaten and top of Northern Rail Group One after a magnificent perfomance on Tyneside.

The Bulldogs dominated from start to finish, running in 17 tries with playmaker Gareth Moore scoring twice and slotting home 16 conversions.

Half-backs Kyle Wood and Moore both scored twice in the first half, Moore starting the try avalanche in the third minute with Chris Buttery then crossing.

Dave Toothill and Jason Walton continued went over before a stunned Thunder replied through centre Michael Brown.

After the break, winger Johny Campbell scored a hat-trick inside 20 minutes after Toothill had continued the onslaught.

Full-back Ian Preeece scored twice and Walton got his second of the game. Moore's conversion of Preece's last-minute try bringing up the 100-point mark.
