Wakefield, coached by Brian Smith, older brother of Warrington coach Tony, finished bottom of Super League with just three wins from their 23 regular rounds.
They hope Halifax-born Grix will bolster their chances of avoiding relegation when it comes to the battles with their Super League rivals and the Championship’s top four.
The deal was completed before the transfer deadline almost a fortnight ago, but was only announced by the clubs yesterday.

“We are delighted to be able to attract such a quality player to the Super League.
“He will help us to make one step forward thanks to his experience at the very top level.
“His speed, agility and capacity to offload combined with his size will make him a good weapon for us.”
Catalans also confirmed yesterday that their former Bradford Bulls hooker Ian Henderson, 32, is returning to the NRL at the end of the season having agreed a deal with Sydney Roosters for 2016.
