Guest Column - Jamie Langley: We are looking no further than this round

With Bradford taking on Leigh Centurions in the Challenge Cup tonight, Jamie Langley is looking forward to re-aquainting himself with former Bulls team-mate Robbie Paul.

SO, Robbie Paul is back in town tonight for his latest Odsal 'farewell' appearance.

I think he's already had four 'last' games and we thought he had finished when Salford came here last season, but he keeps finding new ways of coming back to Bradford.

He'll be around in some veterans' team soon but first of all he's showing up with Leigh in our Challenge Cup match.

It'll be great to have him around. He was an outstanding player for the Bulls and he's a great ambassador, role model and inspiration.

He's been there, done it all and is one of the great pros.

Robbie, right, was in the last Bradford Bulls side to win the Challenge Cup – in 2003 – so it's been a while since we lifted the trophy.

People may think it could be our year with the number of Super League sides already out, more to go this weekend and us up against a Championship club.

But we do not see it like that. You cannot look further than the round you are in. If you do, you will get knocked out.

Leigh are playing really well, are unbeaten this season and are up near the top of the Championship. It is not a guaranteed win for us for sure especially given the way we played against Crusaders in Scotland last week.

We were really poor in that match – very poor in every department. We need to respond.

I've missed the last couple of games with an injury and will have to sit out the Leigh match as well.

I was hoping to be ready in time for this one but it might now have to be Wakefield next week, back at my hometown.

Meanwhile, all the lads are really pleased for Steve (McNamara) getting the England coaching job but we are disappointed he isn't staying at Bradford.

After he took over here, he had to re-build the team and is now well on the way to doing that. We're just starting to make strides in that area.

There's been a lot of chopping and changing with personnel but everything's started to fall into place.

I'm sure Bradford will do right by the club and its players by bringing someone in who will do the job right. Whoever comes in will hopefully be able to just carry on what Steve has started and begin getting us back to where we're supposed to be as a team and as a club.

Personally, I'm out of contract at the end of the season. Obviously it (who the coach is going to be) is something you have to take into consideration when you want to secure your future somewhere so it'd be nice to find out who's going to be in charge sooner rather than later.

The lads are normally the last to know though. People come up to us in the street saying 'do you know who it is?' but we're oblivious to it all. Steve only told us all he had got the England job on the morning of the day it was announced.

I'm happy at Bradford though, where I'm now in my testimonial season, and always have been. My manager is in the process of talking to the club and hopefully we'll sort something out soon.
