Guest Column: We're looking really fresh for our new play-off challenge

WE MAY not finish as high in the table but I think we have a stronger chance than last season in the play-offs as long as our form stays healthy and we sort out the little things.

We were pretty consistent all last year and came fourth but fell at the last hurdle, losing both play-off games. I think we were all blown out.

This year we are in seventh place with four games to go but we have been saying we are feeling a lot fresher as a team and I'm sure we'll be good contenders if we get in the eight again.

We have to string some more performances together but Catalans showed last year what you can do at the end.

They only just got into the eight yet were just one game off the Grand Final. That's the beauty of the play-offs and we have players in our side like Ben Galea, who won an NRL Grand Final with Wests Tigers having finished fourth in the table.

It is possible and you have to believe in yourselves but, firstly, we are just thinking about overcoming Castleford on Sunday.

They will be smarting after losing at Crusaders but are a really strong attacking side with people like Rangi Chase and Ryan McGoldrick who are outstanding players.

When they hit form, they are a hard side to defeat.

We got a win against Bradford but it was not the greatest performance and we need to up that this week.

Cas need the points given Wakefield and Crusaders are right behind them chasing eighth spot and we need the points to push on as high as we can.

We do not want our standards slipping. We have managed to get some decent form together in recent weeks and do not want that to drop.

It will be a tough battle - it was at their place earlier this year - and we're expecting them to be highly motivated.

I am really enjoying my rugby at the moment. I'm happy with my form and loving the contact, taking the ball in a lot and my displays have picked up towards the end of the year.

It was good to get a hat-trick against Bradford as I'd not managed one of them for a while.

I've now got 12 tries for the season but I'm not really thinking about England.

Obviously there's the Four Nations at the end of the season but there are some outstanding wingers around.

If I play well enough to get picked then great but, for now, I'm just thinking about Hull KR.

I was pretty gutted afterwards following the derby defeat at Hull and was desperately disappointed I didn't score that try at the end.

But I learned from that. Maybe I should have put the ball in my right hand so I could have fended Tom (Briscoe) but I was in a similar position against Bradford last week and this time I did. It shows I have learned from it and that is the main thing.

We might even get Hull in the play-offs. It would be great to get another shot at them.
