Halifax 50 Toulouse 6: Losing streak ended in style by Halifax

HALIFAX halted their losing run at three matches with a comfortable victory over Toulouse.

Matt Calland's side, beaten heavily by Hunslet, Leigh and Featherstone in successive matches, led 16-6 at the break before closing out a victory that should ease the immediate pressure on the former Bradford Bulls winger.

The home side made the ideal start, with Australian full-back Shad Royston scoring after less than two minutes following a sweet pass by teenage stand-off Anthony Bowman.

Winger Lee Paterson added the conversion for a 6-0 lead and was on target again in the 12th-minute, after Royston scored a second try.

By the half-hour mark Toulouse had pulled a score back, full-back Rory Bromley going under the posts and Nathan Wynn's conversion cutting the deficit to 12-6.

But Paterson then raced 90 metres down the left flank to make it 16-6 and when Royston completed his hat-trick within a minute of the restart, Halifax were in complete command.

They went further ahead through substitute James Haley, Paterson converting, with further tries from Rob Worrincy, Haley, Paterson and Frank Watene rounding things off.
