Halifax 54 Oxford 12: Walker in two-try debut show

Rookie full-back Freddie Walker touched down twice on his competitive debut for the club as Halifax swept Oxford aside 54-12 in the third round of the Challenge Cup.

Walker, a local junior who left Huddersfield in the autumn, replaced regular number one Ryan Fieldhouse and was hailed as “sensational” by coach Karl Harrison.

Halifax led 32-0 at the break against the Championship One new boys, with Walker contributing one of his side’s six tries.
