Halifax thrashed top-five Championship rivals Leigh at The Shay to bolster their position at the summit of the league ladder.

Scott Murrell then produced a brilliant pass to put Ryan Fieldhouse over under the posts.

Tyrer doubled the lead with the kick and Halifax were over again just before the break, hooker Paul Handforth picking Tyrer out on the right flank.

The conversion drifted wide to leave Halifax leading 18-0 at the break, but they scored within a minute of the second half kicking off through Heaton to make it 22-0 and never looked back.

Halifax scored another six tries in total, including a blistering long-range score from Worrincy and the 100th touchdown of half-back Anthony Thackeray’s career.
