Harlequins 30 Hull FC 40: Agar delighted after Hull stop the rot at Quins

Richard Agar is tipping his Hull side to go on a winning streak after seeing them stage a sensational comeback to stun Harlequins.

The visitors ran in four tries in the final 15 minutes to erase a 14-point deficit and claim just their second win of the season.

And Agar reckons this could be the start of something big for his side.

He said: “We need this result to be a catalyst for us. We know we have the ability, it is all about getting the consistency.

“To get to that point in the game and then find the energy to come back and win like that is a massive testament to the boys.

“The biggest thing for me is that many sides would have given up at that stage but we didn’t.”

The visitors went into the lead in the seventh minute, Joe Westerman carving the Quins defence open to allow Danny Tickle to step inside and stroll over the line.

The home side were soon level, however, when Luke Dorn and David Howell combined well to squeeze Chris Melling in.

In the 19th minute, Dorn raced clear to set up an attack, and after Jamie O’Callaghan was held just short Tony Clubb burrowed over from close range.

Quins were now controlling both possession and territory and Hull were beginning to look a bit ragged. But, out of nothing, Richard Agar’s men were level on the half-hour mark, will Sharp scorching clear before Sam Obst released Yeaman for a clear run to the line.

Shortly after the break, the visitors moved ahead once more, when Tom Briscoe crossed.

The home side were struggling for tempo, but the reintroduction of hooker Andy Ellis changed all that, breaking away for Dorn to burst over in the 51st minute.

Dorn then proved architect moments later, leaping high to claim a booming kick ahead of full-back Richard Horne before offloading forLuke Gale to race over.

The hosts were to add another score in the 58th minutewhen Chad Randall to scurried over.

But, on 65 minutes, Epalahame Lauaki burst over from close range on 65 minutes to give Hull hope.

Five minutes later, the visitors struck again, when Obst raced over.

The comeback was complete when Turner and Yeaman raced clear for further scores.
