Harlequins sign Leeds Rhinos' Ambler

HARLEQUINS have signed Ireland prop Luke Ambler on a season-long loan from Leeds Rhinos.

The 20-year-old Ambler, who made nine appearances for the Rhinos in 2010 after joining them from Salford, will make a well-trodden path from Headingley to the Twickenham Stoop.

Leeds full-back Ben Jones-Bishop spent the whole of the 2010 season on loan to Harlequins, while Carl Ablett and Luke Burgess have also been on loan to the London club.

"We are grateful to Leeds for sending Luke down to join us next season and we hope the relationship between the two clubs can continue.

"Luke is a talented young player who is enthusiastic about coming down and starting training next week."

Leeds coach Brian McDermott, who was in charge of Harlequins up to the end of the season, said: "I think over the years the club have realised that players who go to Quins come back better players and better people from the experience."

Halifax-born Ambler played for Ireland in the recent European Cup.
