Salford second-rower Hauraki and Wigan counterpart Bateman were sent off two minutes from time for trading punches after the pair had already been sin-binned for an earlier flare-up.

The offence carries a suspension of one to two matches, although Hauraki’s ban could be longer after he was hit with a Grade C charge by the Rugby Football League’s match-review panel following an incident at Huddersfield on Good Friday.

The former Leeds and Castleford forward will appear before an independent disciplinary tribunal this evening, along with Salford team-mate Josh Griffin after he was charged with Grade A contrary behaviour towards Anthony Gelling, who was cautioned for his part in the incident.

Leeds back-rower Stevie Ward, Wakefield prop Nick Scruton and Huddersfield centre Joe Wardle face Grade A, B and B charges respectively following incidents in round nine.

Ward, Scruton, Wardle and Bateman have until 11am today to decide whether to submit early-guilty pleas.

The France international, who scored three tries in the first six rounds of Super League XX, suffered a ruptured tendon in the Dragons’ 33-22 defeat at Hull FC on March 20 which requires surgery.

“The news is a hugely disappointing blow for the player and the whole team,” said Catalans head coach Laurent Frayssinous.

“Vincent already came back from big injuries in the past and I’m sure he will bounce back stronger.

“He is a key member in the team who has to support him.”

Next up for the sixth-placed Catalans is a trip to Wigan on Sunday.
