Holmfirth farmers' market has been operating in the village for the past 12 years and is a popular meeting place, often being the focus of community and charity events, such as The Big Lunch hosted by the Mayor of Kirklees.

Sue Thomson, quality standards' manager at FARMA, said: "Holmfirth farmers' market is so much part of the fabric of the local community, it would be hard to imagine the place without it.

"It was one of the first UK farmers' markets and its longevity is testimony to the commitment of the stallholders and managers, and the quality of the produce on offer."

Coun Peter McBride, Kirklees cabinet member for regeneration, said: "The Holmfirth farmers' market has been a valuable addition to the town and is popular with local people and visitors. Long may it continue."
