Honour in defeat for '¨the Bulldogs

Toronto Wolfpack racked up their 17th successive Betfred Championship victory when an understrength Batley Bulldogs were put to the sword on Saturday.

Batley only had 16 players available, including veteran Danny Maun who came out of retirement for one final match to aid his old club in its hour of need.

The ambitious Canadian side, who clinched the league leaders’ shield the previous weekend and will be looking to complete successive promotion in the upcoming Qualifiers, were way too strong for Matt Diskin’s battlers.

Wolfpack had opened up a 32-0 lead by the 25th minute, before Dom Brambani got Batley on the board three minutes later with a try converted by Izaac Farrell.

It was 40-6 by the time Batley went over again, this time James Davey claiming the 51st-minute touchdown, with Izaac Farrell again tagging the extras at Lamport Stadium.

Toronto ran in three more tries, but Batley never gave up and were rewarded when Michael Ward was set up Davey for a try which Izaac Farrell again improved.

For Toronto, who ran in 11 tries in total, Blake Wallace scored a hat-trick and Andy Ackers a pair, while Ryan Brierley and Gareth O’Brien landed four goals each in front of a crowd of 6,088 .

Bradford Bulls beat Yorkshire rivals Hunslet 36-16 in Championship 1.

George Flanagan and Ashley Gibson crossed for two tries, with Steve Crossley and Joe Keyes also scoring at South Leeds Stadium.

Dane Chisholm kicked six goals to complete Bradford’s scoring.

Duane Straugheir and Gavin Duffy replied with tries for hosts Hunslet, Joe Sanderson adding four goals.

Doncaster romped to a 102-6 victory over West Wales Raiders.

Jez Litten ran in a hat-trick of tries, and was followed by Richard Owen, Liam Harris (2), Jordan Howden, Frankie Mariano (2), Kyle Kesik (2), Sam Doherty, Brad England, Jordie Hedges, Connor Scott, Russ Spiers, Jason Muranka and Aaron Jones-Bishop.

Harris also booted 15 goals for the Dons.
