Hull Kingston Rovers 36 Warrington Wolves 16: Morgan full of praise for ever-willing Hull KR winger Fox

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan saluted the performance of England winger Peter Fox after his side beat second-placed Warrington 36-16.

Fox scored two tries and laid on two more as he often occupied the role of a third prop forward with an impressive display of power and speed.

The 25-year-old slightly blotted his copybook with a late altercation with Scott Grix, who he goaded while scoring his second, but Morgan could take nothing away from the former Wakefield man.

"Peter takes a great deal of pride in how he carries the ball and I thought he did a great job," said Morgan. "He snuffed out some of their attacks and he was very determined to have a good game.

"He's not only an international winger, he is playing like one. He is consistently doing the little things that are contributing to our performance. He enjoys carrying the ball out of our own end but he's a winger and they're paid to score tries."

The result ensured Rovers ended a punishing week with four points from a possible six and Morgan now wants them to kick on, starting with next weekend's Challenge Cup tie at Huddersfield.

"If you look at the three games, we've got four points out of six, but we need to capitalise on it," he added.

"We've worked hard to improve our defence and no-one has scored more than 18 points against us for a month. We're pretty pleased with our defence. We've made some changes to our style and we're starting to see the fruits of that."

Wolves coach Tony Smith was magnanimous after seeing his second-placed outfit slip to just a third loss of the season.

Warrington were level at 16-16 after Chris Riley's 13th try of the season with 54 minutes on the clock, before Fox scored his first to break their resistance.

"We were second best by a long way," admitted Smith. "The game was in the balance and was looking for a team to take control. It wasn't us today.

"Hull KR looked sharp and our execution was off. We were sloppy in some of our passing and we let ourselves down a bit with some of our decision making and our discipline."
