Hunslet 36 Oldham 10: Welham in try hat-trick for Hunslet
CENTRE Liam Welham ran in a hat-trick of tries as the Hawks ended a three-match losing run and dumped Championship One side Oldham out of the Challenge Cup.
In-form forward Tommy Haughey, who scored a hat-trick of tries in the narrow defeat against Keighley on Easter Monday, took just five minutes to grab the opening try and later created two of Welham’s three touchdowns.
Oldham showed promise at times, Jamie Dallimore converting his own 12th minute touchdown and Adam Files scoring just before the end, but Hunslet carried the greater threat and half-back Luke Helliwell scored a try and kicked four goals.
Amateurs Ince Rose Bridge suffered an 18-50 defeat to Championship One side Hemel Stags.
