Hunslet Hawks 32 Doncaster 12: Doncaster punished as Kain grabs hat-trick

Andy Kain scored a hat-trick of tries as Hunslet Hawks saw off Doncaster in their Championship match.

Despite the heartache of a loss to Bradford last week Hunslet looked to bounce back with a win against Doncaster and that they did.

From kick-off things didn’t look great as Hunslet dropped the ball gifting possession to Doncaster but Kain took the game back almost instantly, intercepting the ball and running 80 metres to score under the sticks.

The first half was frustrating for the Hawks – two tries from Doncaster first levelling, then taking them ahead – but as the clock ran out on the half Jimmy Watson connected with a Danny Ansell kick to take the Hawks ahead.

The second half was much better from the Hawks, whose attack looked much like it did in previous games.

The luck they had lacked so far returned as Kain completed his hat-trick and Brad Brennan scored, taking numerous defenders with him across the line.

The game ended on a sour note with Spiers and Flanagan both receiving yellows for an off-the-ball incident.

The win for the Hawks is only their second of the season but a performance much like the first three games, the Hawks have been unlucky previously but the attack now seems to be hitting its stride.
