Hunslet Hawks 42 Oldham 12: Seven-try Hawks get revenge over Oldham

Hunslet ran in seven tries against indisciplined Oldham to earn a Challenge Cup fifth round visit to Barrow.

Hunslet's only defeat in Co-op Championship One this season came against Oldham but it was the Hawks who took the honours this time. David March drove his way over the line for the first try but Richard Knight failed with a simple kick.

Steve Dooler's strong burst led to winger Michael Mark's try, Knight landing the conversion to establish a 10-0 lead.

Referee Craig Halloran delivered stern lectures after two skirmishes before he sin-binned David March and Oldham's Ben Heaton for wrestling.

In their absence, Neil Lowe bulldozed his way over for Hunslet's third try, Knight adding the conversion to lead 16-0.

Oldham stepped up a gear after the break. Mark Brocklehurst followed up Neil Roden's kick to the corner to break the visitors' duck in the 47th minute, Matt Ashe adding the goal.

When Mick Fogerty was caught offside, Wayne McHugh's penalty made it 18-6 to the Hawks but another neat kick-ahead by Roden was taken by Paul O'Connor who raced round to the posts, Ashe again converting.

Hunslet needed to reassert themselves and when Heaton was sin-binned for a second time, McHugh kicked a penalty and Oldham were reduced to 11 men when Fogerty was sent off for tripping. Mark, Richard Chapman, McHugh and Knight added further tries as Hunslet's numerical advantage told.
