Hunslet Hawks 48 Warrington Wizards 10: Hawks quick to make their quality count

HUNSLET cast a spell over the Wizards to cruise into the next round with a ten-try haul.

It took Hawks centre Dave Clayton just 50 seconds to breach Warrington’s defence and the Co-op Conference National champions never looked like causing a shock. By the time Darren Forshaw gathered Chris Campbell’s kick to touch down in the corner for the Wizards, Hunslet had built a 24-point lead with tries by Clayton, Waine Pryce, Luke Haigh, Danny Grimshaw and Danny Ratcliffe.

The Hawks had to defend strongly after Forshaw’s try but there was no further scoring before half-time. Warrington couldn’t take advantage of Grimshaw’s sin-binning and further tries came from Matthew Harding (2), Richard Chapman, John Oakes and Grimshaw, Warrington replying through Matt Taylor.
