Hawks have slipped to seventh in the Kingstone Press League One Super-8s and defeat tomorrow would be a hammer blow to their play-offs hopes.

Hunslet suffered a costly home defeat by Doncaster last week and coach Matt Bramald warned: “It is going to be tough.

York had a really good win at Rochdale last week and they will be confident and flying high, but realistically we need to get something out of the game to get into the top-five. It is going to be really difficult and we are going to have to be right on top of our game.”

Hunslet’s previous visit to Bootham Crescent, two months ago, ended in a 32-24 defeat, but they led early on and Bramald saw enough in his side’s performance to convince him they are capable of getting the job done tomorrow.

“We will go there with every intention of winning the game,” he said. “We can’t go there and try and contain them, we have to try and win it.

“If we can go there and get something out of the game we’ve got next week off so we can freshen up for the final push.”

York had three players sin-binned and Hunslet’s Jordan Normington was sent-off in June’s meeting, and Bramald added: “That game was a bit feisty and I don’t expect any different.

“The team that hold their nerve the best will probably come out on top.”
