Kicking game was off target – Brown

huddersfield: Giants boss Nathan Brown was far from impressed with his side’s kicking game as they were beaten by Salford City Reds on Friday.

Brown, whose side have not won away since beating Hull on May 27, revealed try scorer Jermaine McGillvary will need x-rays after limping off early in the second half of their 24-18 defeat with an ankle injury.

Danny Williams, back in Super League after a spell at Newcastle Falcons, scored a hat-trick of tries for the Reds after his double at Wigan.

“They dominated in the second half on the back of a good kicking game whilst ours was horrendous and unacceptable at this level,” he said. “We were comfortably on top at half-time and the end result was disappointing.

“We are not doing things good enough for long enough and that’s the difference between winning and losing.”

New Salford coach Matt Parish saluted his side’s effort and commitment after claiming the first win of his Reds regime at the fourth attempt this evening.

Parish was critical of his team’s performance after last weekend’s defeat against Wigan: “There were a few harsh words on Sunday and more at training on Monday. But the boys responded and played well, although we made hard work of it at times.”
