Lady Sara's capital role in farming union

Lady Sara Apsley will be the face of a new London branch of the Women's Food & Farming Union, which expects to pick up membership from countryside exiles and lobby on behalf of rural interests in the corridors of power.

The founders of the branch have appointed Lady Sara – wife of the heir to an earldom – as "spokeswoman", pending election of officers.

An open launch meeting will be held at the Farmers' Club, No. 3 Whitehall, London, from 6pm on Friday, March 12.
