Last-minute heroics from Jones seals win

Keighley Cougars 27 Toulouse 26

DANNY Jones's golden boot gave Keighley Cougars a win in the final minute of the game with a drop goal.

Jones had been out of sorts only converting three of the five tries scored, but came up with the goods when required. A response to him being sin-binned in the second half for dissent.

The Cougars scored three tries in the first half, Tom Burton with two and the third from Brendan Rawlins.

Visiting Toulouse Olympique, who only landed in the UK at 3am on Saturday morning, responded with two first-half tries from Tony Gigot and Sebastian Payan, with Australian player Nathan Wynn tagging on both goals.

Toulouse scored first in the second half through Wynn who converted his try and then when the Cougars were reduced to 12 men Carlos Mendes Varela saw his opportunity to score with Wynn adding a further two points.

Gavin Duffy had been trying to break through all afternoon and he succeeded with Jones, back on the pitch, levelling the scores at 26-26 with five minutes to go.
