Leeds Cent 50 E Leeds 4: East Leeds impress in Leigh loss

Leigh Centurions may be through to round four of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup but it was East Leeds that impressed with their spirit, commitment and energy throughout.

Leigh built a 22-0 advantage at half-time with tries from Stuart Littler, Ryan Brierley, Sean Penkywicz and John O’Donnell.

Matt Gardner opened the second half but the biggest cheer came when David Nurse sent Mark Greenwood over at the corner. Greenwood almost doubled his tally before a strong finish brought further Leigh tries from Brierley, Steve Maden, Adam Higson, Michael Ostick and Gardner put Leigh through with Ridyard kicking five goals.

Papua New Guinea international Jess Joe Parker scored four of his side’s seven tries as Whitehaven gained a 38-32 win over London Skolars.
