Leeds Rhinos v Hull FC: Time for Beau Falloon to stand up and deliver for Rhinos

LEEDS RHINOS' latest NRL recruit Beau Falloon admits he needs to be better to make his mark in Super League.

The Australian hooker has endured a frustrating start since joining from Gold Coast Titans, not helped, of course, by his new club’s own wretched form.

However, as Leeds seek to win for the first time in five games against Hull FC tonight, he said: “I’ve played a few games and I haven’t been particularly happy about my last couple of performances, to be honest.

“I need to be better than that and I will be doing everything I can to rectify that.

“I’m sure once the team gets on a roll we can all pick up our form and move on.

“We are just focusing on Hull this week, that’s our priority at the moment.

“I think that’s the way to do it. We haven’t been getting too many wins and I think as soon as we get that first win we will gain a bit of confidence and kick on from there.”

Falloon, 28, will come up against one of Super League’s leading hookers tonight with Danny Houghton helping to drive Hull’s own five-match winning run.

“They are going really well this year,” he said.

“I know a few of their boys – Mark Minichiello and Steve Michaels – and they have been playing some good footy.

“We will have to play well against them, because we need to win. That’s the main focus for us.

“It is just important to get the two points.

“We are at the wrong end of the table at the moment, so the sooner we turn things around the better.”

Languishing in 11th place, the reigning champions can ill-afford to continue in their rut much longer.

Falloon, who missed the start of the season with a broken toe, has only tasted victory once with his new club.

“It has been frustrating,” he said. “But that’s rugby league – we are all in it together.

“That’s the best thing about it. You get to train with all your mates and go out at the weekend and give it your best shot.

“Everyone is low on a bit of confidence at the moment, but I feel it’s not too far away.”

They are missing captain Danny McGuire tonight after the stand-off suffered another injury.

Brett Delaney could return to bolster their pack, however, and 17-year-old loose forward Cameron Smith hopes to make his debut.
